Jesus' statement sent shockwaves through all of Palestine. The gravity of just two words - I AM - left people paralyzed and filled with uneasy wonder. Jesus' measured statement was perfectly placed to help people begin to grasp who he really was.

Everyone knew the story. It was a story told over and over again starting at a child's earliest age. Moses sees a bush on fire, yet it wasn't burning up. This surreal moment caused Moses to walk closer. As he does, a voice starts to speak to him. Yes, a voice from the bush. (I bet Moses thought, "And I didn't think this day could get any more bizarre.") When Moses asked the voice for his name, the reply was simple and complex: "I am who I am." (Exodus 3:14)

I AM: a name that reflects God's eternal existence and a name that reveals God's eternal power.

And with those two words, Jesus revealed that He was God.

And with those two words, Jesus claimed that He was God.

And today, focus on this incredible moment that God, chose to become man, for you.
