DAY 17

JOYFUL IN HOPE

Hope has nothing to do with what is happening now or how we think the future might unfold. Hope has everything to do with "who" you place your trust in.

The Apostle Paul wrote it this way: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 5:13).

PATIENT IN AFFLICTION

What are you facing right now? Is it pushing you to the edge? Whenever you face painful moments the desire is to try to find a way out. Instead of trying to escape the pain - the discomfort - the affliction, lean into it.

James, the brother of Jesus, shared these thoughts. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:2-4)

FAITHFUL IN PRAYER

And whatever you do, keep praying. Engage in a conversation with God that is direct, authentic, and completely transparent. The Apostle Paul shared this, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6)
