DAY 7

When was the last time you used the word "exalt" in an everyday conversation? More than likely the answer to that question is ... never. (O.K., at least you can't remember when.)

Exalt is such an incredible word that has a powerful word image attached to it. The word exalt simply means to lift up or to elevate. It literally includes the image of elevating something (or someone) to the highest place.

Over the past several days the focus has been on submitting and humbling ourselves, which is an action that goes against our broken human nature. But it is an action that is absolutely necessary for our relationship with God. The reality is that you can not exalt God without humbling yourself. Those two actions - Exalt & Humble - are intrinsically connected together. The incredible truth is that the higher you exalt God in your life, the easier it is to submit and humble yourself.

In fact, the Apostle Paul wrote these words to the church in Philippi. Pray through these words today.

Philippians 2:6-11

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
